Bamboo for Sale

Are you an architect, city planner, or landscaper looking for bamboo for sale? If so, then we think you will appreciate the selection of clumping bamboo for sale at Palmco.

About Palmco

Palmco is Florida's premier grower of top-quality non-invasive clumping bamboo. We are one of the largest palm and bamboo plantations in North America and offer breathtaking tropical and subtropical bamboo to customers across the Southeastern United States. Our clumping bamboos will help you create privacy and beauty within a few growing seasons.

How To Use Clumping Bamboo

One of the primary reasons people plant bamboo is that it is an attractive plant. It is a great way to get a little color into a landscape, and provides a great sense of form when it is taken care of properly.

The advantages of our clumpers include:

• Slow-growing, dense privacy screens and hedges
• Beautiful ornamentals and specimen plants
• Effective backdrop for other plants or sculptures
• Grow up to an average of 30 feet, or to 55 feet in tropical climates
• Controllable behavior, even without barriers
• Non-invasive and generally stay in close proximity to the main plant

Tropical clumpers are generally less cold-hardy than running bamboo, so they are not recommended outside of warmer climates. Also, depending on the species, we recommend giving clumpers from two to ten feet of space if you want them to reach their maximum height.

Types of Bamboo

We at Palmco offer many varieties of bamboo, but here are three that we love:

Emerald Bamboo

Tall and elegant, Emerald bamboo is a joy to work with. It is light green with a persistent white bloom and grows to a stately height of 30 to 40 feet. It grows in a nice tight clump that is attractive and creates a dense privacy screen. It is cold-hardy down to 18°F. This large, attractive bamboo is a favorite of ours. Its name inspires images of fine gemstones, and we think it lives up to that name. Use this bamboo for screening or as a centerpiece—either way it will catch the eyes of passersby.

Golden Hawaiian Bamboo

Often called Painted Bamboo or Hawaiian Gold Timber Bamboo, the beautiful Golden Hawaiian is one of the most cultivated ornamental bamboos in the tropical world. It features bright yellow 4-inch diameter canes with random green stripes that resemble drip marks. Easily propagated, it grows to a typical height of 40 to 50 feet within about three years. Golden Hawaiian bamboo is ideal for ornamental centerpieces and tall screening.

Monastery Bamboo

Perfect for tight spots, Monastery Bamboo is tight-clumping and tall. It features small leaves on the top third that create a cloud-like effect. Its lower portion tends not to grow foliage, which makes each clump appear almost tree-like. This beautiful bamboo has strong, extremely straight culms that can grow to 40 feet in areas where the soil is well-drained but consistently moist. Monastery bamboo makes an excellent windbreak or privacy screen.

At Palmco, we offer some of the best clumping bamboo you can find. If you are interested in bamboo for sale, we invite you to contact us Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm, at (239) 283-1329.
