Are you a landscaper or city planner who is looking to buy bamboo plants? If so, then we at Palmco have just what you’re looking for!

About Us

Palmco serves the contiguous U.S. from our 600-acre farm in Bokeelia on Pine Island, Florida. We provide FF-grade palms, top-quality clumping bamboos, and spectacular ornamental plants, such as the Mast Tree, to landscape contractors, architects and developers who want to beautify residential estates, resorts, golf courses, commercial properties and more.

How To Use Clumping Bamboo

Aside from beauty, one of the best features of clumping bamboo is that it is non-invasive. The plants grow gradually outward from the center, and new culms grow taller and larger in diameter every year. They don’t spread horizontally beyond their assigned area, making them an ideal low-maintenance alternative to larger, more aggressive, running bamboos.

Clumping bamboo can be used in landscaping in many different ways, such as:

• Dramatic focal pieces
• Privacy screens
• Living fences and walls
• Hedges
• Driveway plantings
• Noise barriers
• Wind screens
• Storm barriers
• Backdrops for other tropical plants

Define separate spaces on a large property. Build a bamboo wall between a swimming pool and playground. Screen off garages and work areas or block an unpleasant view.

Golden Goddess Bamboo: This bamboo is so easy to work with that it is often referred to as “well-mannered.” This is because it is not only non-invasive, but is extremely easy to grow and maintain. It’s one of the smaller clumping bamboo varieties, reaching only about 10 to 12 feet in height, which makes it a popular choice for shorter hedges and for containers on the patio or around the pool. The semi-dwarf bamboo also creates a beautiful privacy hedge when planted four to eight feet apart. This plant is routinely chosen for both its beauty and ease of maintenance.

Monastery Bamboo: Great for small areas, this bamboo is a tall, tight-clumping plant. It features small leaves on the top third that create a cloud-like effect. Its lower portion tends not to grow foliage, which gives it an almost tree-like appearance. This beautiful bamboo has strong, extremely straight culms that can grow to 40 feet in areas where the soil is well-drained but consistently moist. Monastery bamboo makes an excellent windbreak or privacy screen. This attractive, easy to use bamboo plant can also be used as a centerpiece.

Angel Mist Bamboo: This bamboo is light in color—yellow or light green—with dark green striping and a waxy powder coating. It’s tall—35 feet in height—but not as tall as other similar “giant” bamboos. Sometimes called Ghost Bamboo, Angel Mist is wonderful for garden applications where you are looking for something to catch the eye. It is commanding and attractive, and serves to both screen an area for privacy and draw visitors’ eyes toward its impressive size and color. It is easy to care for and ideal for use in urban gardens.
